The warm blood dripped down her face as she stood gaping at the scene. She was too late. Too late to stop Byron’s execution. Too late to absolve him of his guilt before Caleb ended his miserable life. Too late for them to know the truth. Time moved slowly as she watched the head roll to a stop at her mate’s feet. He had a grim expression on his face as he ordered Joey and Kendrick to take him. And before Kaya could process what happened next, Connor was tugging her arm and pulling her away from the body. “KAYA!” he shouted, finally getting through to her. “What are you doing here?”

She was trembling from head to toe, her mouth agape as she struggled to form words. “Byron…” she paused, a shaky whimper tore from her throat. “Byron is innocent!”

Ulrick waited outside the studio for the black car to arrive. The photographer was getting anxious and Night shift was already twenty minutes late. Glancing at his watch again, he sighed as he retrieved his phone, preparing to send another urgent text to his lead singer when the sound of tires crunching over gravel pulled his eyes up. “Finally!” he said as Connor and Eli hopped out of the front seats of the vehicle.

Eli grabbed the backdoor and Kaya popped out with Dominick wrapped in her arms. Connor took Kaeleigh from her car seat and followed Caleb who carried Joseph. “You try wrangling three very active, hungry, crying babies into clothes and car seats and see how quickly you make appointments,” Kaya said before leaning over to greet her manager with a peck on the cheek.

Ulrick took the opportunity to steal one from the child in her arms and cooed at the eldest of the triplets. “You’re right, I’m sorry. I was just beginning to think you were blowing this off.”

Now you can either man up and talk to us like an Alpha or we can leave you to stew in your mess and see who’s left standing once the dust clears.”

“You’re a Shifter. What do you need with anyone else when you have all the power you need to stop what’s coming? You and that bitch whelp of yours.” Caleb growled and took a step forward. Charlie quickly thrust a hand in his chest, pushing him back.

This is a celebration.”

“Maybe for some, but not me.”

“What? Peaches, you’re having a baby!”

“Or babies, according to Mandy. She thinks I’m carrying an entire soccer team in my belly.”

“Well, I wasn’t gonna say anything but, you are looking kinda chunky.”
