“Watch out!” Sophie shouted, rushing towards one of their recruits as another large blast erupted near the south quarter. She made it over in time to push the pup out of the way but landed with a crash against a tree.

“Baby!” Instantly Charlie stopped what he was doing and ran to his mate. Lifting her in his arms, he checked her for any serious injury. “Are you ok?”

“A little banged up but no worse for the wear,” she replied, pulling herself to her feet.

“Let’s get back out there then.” Taking her by the hand, the couple rejoined the fight.

“Where the hell is he?” Finn growled as he continued pacing the length of the living room.

“Sit down and be patient will ye? Ye startin’ tae wreck me nerves,” Emmett said. It had been over a week since they learned of Karri’s situation and they were still working on getting their hands on Cillian’s trinity knot necklace. James had left a message on Finn’s voicemail letting him know he’d come across a lead and would get back to him the next morning. But morning came and went and still there had been no word from James. “Try callin’ ‘em if ye that worried.”

Grabbing his phone, Finn tried just that but kept getting his voicemail. “Seriously, how much longer does he expect us to wait for with our thumbs up our asses?”

Episode 77: Hungry Like the...

“Well what’s the word?” Finn asked as his brother turned back towards them.

“That was James back home,” Emmett sighed, placing his phone into his pocket. “He says he’ll get a couple guys and keep an eye out for Xander’s friend. He’ll call if anythin’ happens. In the meantime, are we really keepin’ this bleedin’ tick alive? It’s clearly a ploy tae save his sorry arse!”

“Aye. But it be well we know for sure,” Eoghan replied. He moved forward, lifting Xander’s head until his eyes fell on him and sighed. “Ye hear that, boyo? Ye got yeself a reprieve for now. But don’t ye worry, lad. It won’t be long before those beautiful bagpipes are singing and the sounds of Londonderry fills the air.”

“What do we do until then?” Finn asked, seeing the wounds they’d inflicted on him already start to heal.

“I guess, until then, you two can have more fun. I, on the other hand, need tae be gettin’ home. I have other matters tae attend.” Eoghan grabbed his coat and started for the door.

With a nod towards his brother, Emmett cracked his knuckles and grinned at the beaten Xander as he took a step forward. “Now then. Let’s see just how loud we can make ye scream.”

On top of that, my manager, Ulrick, called and told me he set up a photoshoot with a music magazine for the band later on this week and I have been struggling to keep my hormones in check at home. I can’t imagine being in public right now. I’m trying to decide if this nursery should be pink, blue or neutral all while I have a couple of overactive pups playing ping-pong in my belly. Today is not the day to mess with my head.”

The commotion caught her ears and Kaya stepped into the hall, pushing through the few wolves still crowding the small area. She glanced at the men at her door and then to Connor who stood fists clenched, brows furrowed in a deep v and growling. Sighing, she moved closer, keeping the redhead at her back in an attempt to shield the strangers from what could quickly become a losing battle with a wild wolf. “I’m the Luna here, what is it that I can help you with?”

“As I said, I want me sister, nuthin’ more.”

“Please, let’s step into the office for more privacy,” she motioned in the direction of Caleb’s study. “Find Vaughn, have him meet me,” she whispered into Amanda’s ear.

“Yes, Luna.”
